indianapolis. overall, what is the white house message here? >> reporter: it's interesting you should bring this up, alex. we learned the president will give a speech upon returning to washington. he's on here for another week in martha's vineyard. he'll go to new orleans to observe the fifth anniversary of hurricane katrina. then he'll give an address on the iraqi troop withdrawal. it was last week they went over the kuwait border ending the combat mission that officially ends august 31st. it falls on a tuesday. we don't know what day the president is going to be speaking. tuesday is a good guess. he spoke to the american disabled veterans convention in atlanta when he said the war of the combat mission would end as promised and as on schedule. we can expect the president to reinforce that. vice president biden will be in indianapolis tomorrow to speak to the vfw about the end of the combat mission in iraq. a lot of people are quick to point out there are 50,000 american troops left in iraq. they are capable or combat ready. by all accounts the level of violence sunk there somewhat not wit

motorcyclist killed at the indianapolis speedway. the 13-year-old was run over by another motorcycle. the accident is sparking debate about now young is too young for the sport. stewart aiken speaks for the racers. >> these people have proven time and time again, their skills have proven that their more than ready for a track like this. absolutely. >> it was the first death at that track since an indycar driver was killed during a test run back in 2003. >>> we have new video of those 33 miners awaiting rescue in capitol hilly. the men seem to be mostly in good spiriteds. they say things have improved since beginning to receive water and food from the surface. some of the men do appear emotional when they address their families and friends. the men will have to help move thousands of tons of rock that's expected to fall in the mining as the rescue tunnel is drilled from above. >>> well, this hasn't happened in more than 400 years, the mound sinabung volcano in indonesia is now erupting. some airports have been diverted because of poor visibility. >>> and in medical news this morning,
-old amateur motorcycle racer was killed yesterday in a crash in indianapolis. he had been a rising star in the racing world. this video shows him riding a bike at 125 miles an hour. today race organizers said they will not launch a formal investigation into his death, but they will review their safety procedures. motorcycle racing is not the only dangerous sport. a new study says there's been a sharp increase in concussions among young athletes playing other sports such as football and soccer. over a ten-year period, emergency-room visits for concussions among middle-school aged children nearly doubled. medical correspondent dr. jennifer ashton has more about this. jennifer, good evening. >> reporter: good evening, harry. some of this dramatic increase is due to the growing awareness of the dangers of concussions, but experts say many cases still go unreported. >> go, go. >> reporter: like so many competitive young athletes, 17-year-old zoe loveman loves to play hard. >> i went out for a header with another player. and as i was coming down she was still sort of making her up to the ball

in the united states of america. it makes no sense to me in indianapolis where the same report reported that 19% of the african-american boys graduated from high school, that that school system is allowed to exist and people are allowed to be employed by that. when we look in the new england states, a state like maine, where you have 70 or 80% of the african males graduated. what we're seeing around the country is that there are successful models where they can graduate african-american males in the same cities where they can't. when the only option that the parents are is a horrible, failing school system, then you can put all of the work you want in, at the back end, 47% of the african-american males graduates, i bet some 50% of those are reading four or five grade levels behind. >> back to that, the program that they haufr in new jersey, these free preschool classes, and the fact that it's full time and they start early on, and they have a curriculum. what is happening there that's contributing to the successful graduation rates? >> new jersey schools as a state -- new jersey's public school
